Apollo Twin X DUO Studio Set – A Mic Locker Through Two Unison Preamps

Sphere LX is a dual-capsule modeling mic: for full modeling it needs two phantom-powered preamps, and the Apollo Twin X DUO has exactly two Unison preamps. Track through real-time UAD plug-ins, change the mic model after the take, and check it all on open reference headphones.

In This Setup

• Universal Audio Apollo Twin X DUO Gen 2 (Essentials+ Edition) – Thunderbolt 3 desktop interface with 24-bit/192 kHz conversion, two Unison preamps, UAD-2 DUO DSP for real-time plug-ins, Auto-Gain and the Essentials+ plug-in bundle.
• Universal Audio Sphere LX – dual-capsule modeling condenser: 20 classic mic models, pattern and proximity adjustable after recording, 10 dB-A self-noise, 145+ dB SPL; mic stand mount, 3 m dual-output XLR cable and carrying case included.
• Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro MK2 – open-back reference headphones with 45 mm TESLA.45 drivers at 30 ohms, two ear-pad sets (Producing / Mixing & Mastering), straight and coiled cables and a hard case.
• K&M 210/2 – the classic boom stand: 90-160.5 cm height, 80 cm boom arm and folding legs.

Why This Combination

• Two preamps for two capsules: both Unison preamps feed the Sphere LX for full modeling.
• Cable included: the Sphere LX ships with its 3 m dual-output XLR cable and a mic stand mount.
• Reference monitoring: two pad tunings on the DT 1990 Pro MK2 for tracking and mixing.
