Audient Horizon 16 + EVO SP8 Recording Bundle – The Hub Gets Its Microphones

Horizon 16 is built as a converter and routing hub: 16 line channels in and out on DB25, dual ADAT and no mic preamps of its own. The EVO SP8 fills that gap over a single optical cable, adding eight Smartgain preamps and two JFET instrument inputs that the Horizon sees as ADAT channels. One order, one set price, and the rack records from day one.

• Audient Horizon 16 – 34-in / 34-out Thunderbolt 3 interface, 16×16 analogue I/O across four Tascam-pinout DB25 connectors, ESS converters at 32-bit / 192 kHz with 133 dB dynamic range, 0.99 ms round-trip latency, dual ADAT and BNC word clock.
• Audient EVO SP8 – eight EVO mic preamps with one-click Smartgain level setting, two JFET instrument inputs, 24-bit / 96 kHz converters, Motion UI display, eight balanced line outputs and ADAT I/O.

Why This Combination

• Preamps the Horizon 16 does not have: the SP8 turns a line-level hub into a tracking rig with eight mic inputs on the ADAT port, leaving all 16 DB25 channels free for outboard.
• Smartgain saves setup time: levels for all eight channels are set automatically, so a band session starts in seconds instead of minutes.
• One driver, one clock: the Horizon clocks the SP8 over ADAT and Horizon Control routes every channel without repatching.
