Introduction
Most thin laptops dropped HDMI years ago. Monitors didn't get the memo. Most office screens, client monitors in edit suites and the TV in the meeting room still want HDMI, which is why so many desks end in a tangle of USB-C to HDMI dongles.
OWC's answer is the Thunderbolt 5 Dock with Dual HDMI. Two HDMI 2.1 ports are built in, and each one runs on its own controller, so the two displays don't split one signal between them. On a Thunderbolt 5 host that means two 8K 60 Hz or two 4K 240 Hz screens, and the downstream Thunderbolt 5 port can add a third display at up to 6K 60 Hz.
The rest of the dock is the full desk kit: 140 W laptop charging, 2.5GbE, SD and microSD UHS-II slots, 8 USB ports and a 3.5 mm audio jack. It stands upright or lies flat. It also took CineD's Best-of-Show award for Camera Control and Accessories at IBC 2026, a couple of days after OWC announced it.
Key Features & Benefits
- Plug HDMI screens straight in: 2x HDMI 2.1, each with a dedicated controller, up to dual 8K 60 Hz or dual 4K 240 Hz on Thunderbolt 5.
- Add a third display: the downstream Thunderbolt 5 port drives up to 6K 60 Hz or 4K 144 Hz next to both HDMI screens.
- Keep fast storage fast: that same Thunderbolt 5 port runs SSDs and RAIDs at up to 80Gb/s, with 30 W for bus-powered drives.
- Charge the laptop under load: up to 140 W to the host, even with every port busy.
- Offload cards on the desk: SD 4.0 and microSD UHS-II on the front, up to 312 MB/s.
- Wire up the NAS: 2.5GbE on the back, plus 5 USB-C and 3 USB-A ports.

Which OWC Dock Fits Your Desk?
We listed the Dual HDMI Dock together with three more of OWC's current docks and hubs, and linked the whole family on each product page so you can flip between them. They're separate products rather than one product with options, because they really are different machines at very different prices. The short version:
- OWC USB4 Hub (€179): the small one. Two USB4 ports, two 10Gb/s USB-C, one HDMI 2.1 and up to 81 W charging. For a MacBook Air or ultrabook with one monitor and a fast SSD. No Ethernet, no card reader.
- OWC Thunderbolt 5 Dock (€399): the all-rounder. Three downstream Thunderbolt 5 ports, 140 W, 2.5GbE, SD and microSD, audio. Screens connect over Thunderbolt or USB-C, as there's no HDMI.
- OWC Thunderbolt 5 Dock with Dual HDMI (€499): the same idea as above, rebuilt around two native HDMI screens. One downstream Thunderbolt 5 port instead of three.
- OWC Thunderbolt 5 Dual 10GbE Network Dock (€679): for shared storage. Two independent 10GbE ports plus 2.5GbE, three Thunderbolt 5 ports. It doesn't charge the laptop, and it has no card reader or HDMI.
Already happy with Thunderbolt 3 or 4? The OWC Thunderbolt 5 Hub, Thunderbolt Pro Dock, Thunderbolt Dock (14-Port) and Thunderbolt Mini Dock are in the same model row.
Watch It in Action
OWC hasn't published a video for the Dual HDMI Dock yet. Here's its official walkthrough of the sibling Dual 10GbE Network Dock, which shares the Thunderbolt 5 platform:
Who It's For
- Editors and colourists who want a timeline screen and a client monitor on HDMI, without converters
- Hybrid office desks built around HDMI monitors and a laptop that docks every morning
- Photographers and video shooters who offload SD and microSD cards at the desk
Who should look elsewhere:
- Anyone whose monitors already take USB-C or Thunderbolt: the OWC Thunderbolt 5 Dock (€399) gives you three Thunderbolt 5 ports for €100 less.
- Studios working off a 10GbE NAS: the Dual 10GbE Network Dock is the one that fixes network speed.

Final Thoughts
If your screens speak HDMI and your laptop doesn't, this is the cleanest fix OWC makes: two proper HDMI 2.1 ports, each with its own controller. If your monitors take USB-C, save €100 and get the regular Thunderbolt 5 Dock instead.
